The PCAT wasn't too hard. I used a preparation book and reviewed course materials. The written part I always kind of blank on though.
I might not be the best person to give my thoughts on the PCAT because I have been out of the study mode for awhile. I found the exam very difficult and I am terrified to get my scores. I have not been in a biology or chemistry course since 1998 so my preparation for the PCAT was daunting. I purchased the Kaplan online PCAT course which was helpful, purchased many books, bought the online official PCAT practice exams. I found the exam to be much more difficult than the practice exams PCAT had provided and more in-line with the Kaplin practice exams. A major obstacle for me was the time factor. I always ran out of time on every exam. I ended up filling in bubbles just to answer the question hoping I would by chance get some right! I found the writing section to be easy which doesn't help me too much because as far as I can tell, the writing portion is not really looked at in detail by pharmacy schools. I am very disappointed and wish I hadn't waited 11 years from my undergraduate degree to figure out I wanted to go to pharmacy school! My undergraduate degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry were so long ago they didn't help me too much on this exam. Help!! I will be taking the exam again but I need to figure out what I can do different in my studying to feel more confident going in next time.
The PCAT was not too hard. The material is not bad, except for a few questions here and there.. when you are thinking "really? this is on the test? why?" It is all about being able to handle the test and being able to do (for example) 48 chemistry questions in 30 minutes. By the time I got to the last section (quant), I finally had the test taking under control and didn't stuggle with time constraints. But in the first few sections time was definitely trouble for me.
i thought the exam was not that bad..except for the quantative portion, i thought was extremely difficult..it was almost all calculus. that was the only sec where i didnt finish on time. every problem was a story problem and it was impossible to finish on time without guessing....all the other sections didnt seem too difficult..but the kaplan doesn't prepare u at all for the math portion that was given
